The Down Under Observatory-Under Construction
Pouring the pad so we can relocate the observatory
to it's new and permanent home in Fremont Michigan.
The skies here are far less light polluted than in Muskegon.
So I am anxious to get the observatory re-erected and ready for
a night of observing.
Going Up
The walls were removed in sections, as to make it easier to reassemble.
They are laid out so that we can fit them together like a puzzle
A few finishing touches to the roof, and a couple of pieces of
siding replaced, and the Observatory is as good as new.
My Bat Wing Style Back Yard Observatory
I designed and built this BYO when I lived in Muskegon MI,
having recently moved to darker skies in Bridgeton,MI
I am pleased to finally have the shed re erected at it's new home.
The Down Under Observatory "Bat Wing Style
In readiness for another night of Astro-Imaging.
My little backyard observatory located in Fremont Michigan.
It has what we call
a "bat wing" style removable roof for
observing the night skies rather than the
more common "roll off roof".
This style of roof takes up much less physical space and when closed looks just
like a regular shed!!
and IMHO I think looks far more aesthetic.
Peeking Inside
Inside view of the Down Under Observatory, scope mounted and
roof open. Though it is November and a bit chilly, I look forward to
some very clear skies.
